Lightning (Grades 1 & 2) *NEW*

Registration for the Lightning team is open to boys and girls in 1st and 2nd grade. Boys and girls will be on separate teams.

USA Lacrosse Membership separate from club registration and is required for ALL players participate in Newington Youth Lacrosse and CVYL sanctioned events.

**You will need this prior to completing your NYL registration**

The focus of the season will be on developing and improving stick skills such as: catching, throwing, scooping and shooting. Players will also grasp the concepts of positions and placement on the field. We will also focus on one-on-one play, dodging, defending, and moving the ball in transition.

The season starts early March (weather permitting) and runs through the beginning of June.

Practices will held about twice a week. There will be one weeknight practice and one weekend day for either game or practice. As the season evolves scheduling may change.

Practices and home games will be held on Abate field off of Alumni Road.

Each player is required to purchase a uniform if they do not already have one. Jersey and shorts are required.

**Players may be required to order a new jersey in the event players have duplicate numbers.

Lightning Boys are required to have the following for ALL practices and games:

• Helmet
• Chest protector
• Elbow pads
• Gloves
• Cup
• Mouthguard
• Stick
• Cleats

Lightning Girls are required have the following for ALL practices and games:

• Stick
• Goggles
• Mouthguard
• Cleats
